Maria Raga is the CEO of Depop, a global social marketplace focused in fashion and lifestyle with over 12 million users, most of them under 25. Since taking the helm of Depop in 2016, Maria raised over $28M in funding and Depop’ s GMV has grown over 100% YoY. Her focus remains on scaling the business (particularly in the US) and continuing to innovate from a technical perspective. What’s key, she explains, is to “ensure that Depop’s original vision – empowering creative minds – is always upheld. We are building a platform for creative people to discover the world’s most unique items while allowing sellers to be more financially independent”. Prior to Depop, Raga launched Groupon’s travel vertical in the UK, headed Business Dev. at Privalia, a private online sales business in Spain, Italy and Brazil and served as a senior consultant for Bain & Company. She holds an MBA from INSEAD (International Business School in France and Singapore) and has been a research assistant at Harvard Business School covering entrepreneurship. Originally from Valencia, Spain, Raga lives in London with her husband and two children.
